📱 Getting Started
How do I create an account?
- Download the 1to10 app from the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android)
- Tap "Create Account" on the welcome screen
- Sign in with Google, Apple, or email (Magic Link)
- Complete the onboarding steps:
- Grant location permission (optional but recommended)
- Enable notifications (optional)
- Accept privacy consent
- Enter your profile information (name, birthday, gender)
- You're ready to start!
Note: Account creation is currently only available on mobile apps, not on web.
How does 1to10 work?
1to10 is a photo rating platform where you can:
- Upload your photos and get honest ratings from people worldwide
- Rate others' photos on a scale of 1-10 and earn credits
- See detailed statistics about who rates you (age, gender, location)
- Chat with raters to get more feedback
- Use credits to upload more photos or unlock features
Philosophy: "See yourself through the eyes of the world"
How do I upload my first photo?
- Tap the "Upload" tab (bottom navigation)
- Choose a photo from your gallery or take a new one
- Crop the photo to focus on your face
- Set targeting options:
- Who can see it (gender, age groups)
- Geographic targeting (global, regional, or local)
- Maximum number of ratings (costs credits)
- Review the credit cost
- Tap "Upload"
Cost: 10 credits per rating capacity (e.g., 10 ratings = 100 credits)
💰 Credits & Wallet
What are Credits?
Credits are the currency used in 1to10. You need credits to upload photos and request ratings.
Two types:
- Earned Credits: Free credits earned by rating others' photos
- Purchased Credits: Paid credits bought via in-app purchase
How do I earn Credits?
Rate other users' photos:
- Base reward: 1 credit per rating
- Comment bonus: Extra credits for writing helpful comments (varies)
- Daily limit: 50 earned credits per day
How to rate:
- Go to the "Rate" tab
- View a photo
- Give a rating (1-10)
- Optionally add a comment
- Submit → Earn credits instantly!
Why do Earned Credits expire after 48 hours?
Design philosophy: Encourage active participation
- Earned credits expire after 48 hours to promote regular app usage
- Purchased credits never expire (until used or account deletion)
Track expiry: Check your wallet in the Profile tab
What's the difference between Earned and Purchased Credits?

How do I buy Credits?
- Go to Profile tab → Tap on your credit balance
- Or: Upload screen → "Buy Credits" button
- Choose a package:
- 50 credits
- 150 credits
- 500 credits
- Complete purchase via App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android)
- Credits appear in your wallet (usually instant, up to 1 hour delay)
Payment: Handled by Apple/Google, not by 1to10
My purchased Credits didn't appear. What do I do?
Wait: Up to 1 hour (RevenueCat webhook delay)
Check:
- Profile → Credit balance
- Ensure you completed the purchase (not cancelled)
- Check your App Store/Play Store purchase history

⭐ Photo Ratings
How does the rating system work?
Scale: 1-10
- 1-3: Below average
- 4-6: Average
- 7-9: Above average
- 10: Exceptional
Honest feedback: Ratings should reflect your genuine opinion of the photo.
How many ratings will I receive?
You choose! When uploading, set maxRatings:
- Free users: Minimum 1 rating per photo
- Premium users: Up to their limit (typically 10-100)
Cost: 10 credits per rating capacity
Example: Requesting 10 ratings = 100 credits
What happens after I reach maxRatings?
Your photo is closed (no longer shown to raters).
You can:
- View all ratings and statistics
- Add more ratings (costs credits)
- Delete the photo
- Upload a new one
Can I delete my photos?
Yes! Anytime:
- Go to "My Photos" tab
- Tap on the photo you want to delete
- Tap "Manage Photo" → "Delete Photo"
- Confirm
Effect:
- Photo removed from app and storage
- Ratings deleted
- Credits used for upload are not refunded
👑 Premium Features
What is Premium?
Premium unlocks advanced features:
✨ 5 active photos (instead of 1 for free users)
✨ Advanced targeting options (detailed geographic & demographic)
✨ Travel Mode (change your targeting location)
✨ No ads (ad-free experience)
✨ Priority placement (your photos shown more frequently)
✨ Premium badge (on your profile)
How much does Premium cost?
Plans:
- Weekly: ~€X.XX/week
- Monthly: ~€X.XX/month
- Yearly: ~€X.XX/year (best value)
Pricing varies by country (set by Apple/Google)
View prices: Profile → "Go Premium" button
How do I subscribe to Premium?
- Go to Profile tab
- Tap "Go Premium"
- Choose a plan (weekly, monthly, yearly)
- Complete purchase via App Store/Play Store
- Premium activates instantly!
How do I cancel my Premium subscription?
iOS:
- Settings → Your Name → Subscriptions
- Find "1to10"
- Tap "Cancel Subscription"
Android:
- Play Store → Menu → Subscriptions
- Find "1to10"
- Tap "Cancel subscription"
Effect: You keep premium features until the end of your billing period. No prorated refund.
Can I get a refund for Premium?
Managed by Apple/Google:
- We do not process refunds directly
- Contact Apple/Google support for refund requests
EU Right of Withdrawal:
- 14-day withdrawal right applies
- Waived if you immediately use premium features (which you do by uploading photos)
🌍 Geographic Targeting
What is Geographic Targeting?
Control who can see your photos based on location.
Options:
- Global: Everyone worldwide
- Regional: Only people in your country/region
- Local: Only people nearby (exclude within X km)
- Travel Mode (Premium): Set a different target location
What is Travel Mode?
Premium feature that lets you:
- Target a different city/country (without physically being there)
- Expand or restrict your targeting radius
- Test how you're perceived in different cultures
Example: You're in Berlin but want ratings from people in New York.
What is Geohash?
Geohash is a location encoding system (5-character code like 9q8yy).
Purpose: Efficiently match your photo with nearby raters without sharing exact GPS coordinates.
Accuracy: ~5-10 km range
🔒 Privacy & Safety
How do I delete my account?
- Go to Profile → Settings (gear icon)
- Scroll to "Danger Zone"
- Tap "Delete Account"
- Confirm deletion
Effect:
- All personal data deleted permanently
- Photos removed from storage
- Ratings anonymized (no longer linked to you)
- Purchased credits forfeited (no refund)
- Premium cancelled (no refund)
Timeframe: Immediate (automated)
Cannot be undone!
How do I report inappropriate content?
In-App:
- Tap the photo or comment you want to report
- Tap "Report" button
- Select category (NSFW, Hate Speech, Spam, etc.)
- Optionally add details
- Submit
Email:

Response Time: 24-48 hours
Anonymous: The reported user will NOT know who reported them.
Who can see my photos?
You control this!
When uploading, set:
- Allowed Genders: Male, Female, Non-Binary (select any combination)
- Allowed Age Groups: 18-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-54, 55+ (select any)
- Geographic Area: Global, Regional, or custom radius
Only users matching ALL criteria can see and rate your photo.
Example: "Only women aged 25-34 in my country" → Very targeted audience
How do I change my privacy settings?
Ad & Privacy Settings:
- Profile → Settings → "Ad & Privacy Settings"
- Toggle personalized ads on/off
- Manage consent choices
Notifications:
- Profile → Settings
- Toggle "Rating Notifications" or "Chat Notifications"
Location:
- Device Settings → 1to10 → Location
- Or: In-app → Deny location when prompted
🔔 Notifications
How do I enable push notifications?
iOS:
- Settings → Notifications → 1to10
- Allow Notifications → On
- Choose notification style (Banners, Alerts, etc.)
Android:
- Settings → Apps → 1to10 → Notifications
- Enable "Show notifications"
In-App:
Profile → Settings → Notification Preferences
What notifications will I receive?
- 🌟 Rating Received: Someone rated your photo
- 💬 New Message: Someone sent you a chat message
- 👑 Premium Expiring: Your premium subscription is ending soon
- 💰 Credits Earned: You earned credits by rating
Control: You can enable/disable each type in Settings
💬 Chat & Messaging
How do chat conversations work?
After someone rates your photo with a comment, you can start a chat with them.
Message Limit: Each conversation has a message limit (e.g., 25 messages)
Extend Conversation: Pay credits to add more messages (e.g., 2 credits for 25 messages)
How much does chatting cost?
Free: First X messages per conversation
Extend: 2 credits for 25 additional messages
Why? Prevents spam and encourages meaningful conversations.
🛠️ Technical Issues
The app crashes or freezes. What should I do?
- Force close the app and restart
- Update to the latest version (App Store/Play Store)
- Clear cache:
- iOS: Offload app in Settings → Reinstall
- Android: Settings → Apps → 1to10 → Clear Cache
- Reinstall the app (last resort - you won't lose data)

Push notifications don't work
Check:
- Notifications enabled in device settings (see above)
- Internet connection active
- App is up to date
iOS Specific:
- Settings → 1to10 → Notifications → Allow Notifications

Location permission denied - what now?
If you denied location:
- Some features won't work (geographic targeting, Travel Mode)
- You can still use the app with global targeting
To enable later:
iOS:
- Settings → Privacy → Location Services → 1to10
- Select "While Using the App"
Android:
- Settings → Apps → 1to10 → Permissions → Location
- Select "Allow only while using the app"
In-app purchases don't work
iOS:
- Settings → Your Name → Media & Purchases
- Sign out and sign back in
- Retry purchase
Android:
- Play Store → Menu → Account
- Ensure payment method is valid
- Retry purchase
Sandbox Testing:
- iOS: Use Sandbox account (Settings → App Store → Sandbox Account)
- Android: Use License Tester email

👤 Account Management
I forgot my password. What do I do?
1to10 uses passwordless authentication!
You sign in via:
- Google (OAuth)
- Apple (OAuth)
- Magic Link (email)
No password needed!
If you can't access your Google/Apple account:
Contact their support to recover access.
How do I change my email address?
Currently not supported directly.
Workaround:
- Create a new account with the new email
- Contact info@1to10me.com to transfer your data (manual process)
Future: We plan to add email change functionality.
How do I change the app language?
- Go to Profile → Settings
- Tap "Language"
- Select your preferred language
- App restarts with new language
Supported languages: 20+ including English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, etc.
Can I use 1to10 on multiple devices?
Yes! Your account syncs across devices.
Requirements:
- Sign in with the same Google/Apple account
- Data syncs via Firebase (real-time)
Limits:
- Only one device can be logged in at a time for security reasons
📊 Statistics & Insights
How do I see who rated my photos?
- Go to "My Photos" tab
- Tap on a photo
- Tap "Insights" or "View Ratings"
You can see:
- Individual ratings (1-10)
- Comments from raters
- Demographics: Age group and gender of each rater
- Average rating by demographic
Privacy: Raters' names are shown (but you can't see their profile photos for privacy)
What does "ratingsNeededPercent" mean?
Technical field showing completion percentage:
- 100% = No ratings received yet
- 50% = Half of maxRatings reached
- 0% = All ratings received (photo closed)
Where shown: Photo details (for developers/debugging)
🚫 Content Moderation
What content is NOT allowed?
See our Community Guidelines for full details.
Quick summary:
- ❌ Nudity or sexual content
- ❌ Minors (under 18)
- ❌ Hate speech or discrimination
- ❌ Violence or illegal content
- ❌ Spam or advertising
Consequence: Content removal, warning, suspension, or permanent ban
How quickly are reports reviewed?
Target: 24-48 hours for most reports
Urgent cases (illegal content, minors): Reviewed immediately and escalated to authorities if needed.
What happens if I violate the rules?
Three-strike system:
- First violation: Warning + content removal
- Second violation: 7-day suspension
- Third violation: Permanent ban
Severe violations (NSFW, minors, violence): Immediate permanent ban
💳 Payments & Refunds
How do in-app purchases work?
All payments are processed by:
- iOS: Apple App Store
- Android: Google Play Store
We do NOT:
- Store your payment information
- Have access to your card details
- Process refunds directly
How do I request a refund?
Contact Apple or Google (not 1to10):
iOS:
- Go to: https://reportaproblem.apple.com
- Sign in with your Apple ID
- Find "1to10" purchase
- Select "Report a Problem"
Android:
- Play Store → Account → Purchase history
- Find "1to10" purchase
- Tap "Request a refund"
Refund Policy:
- Apple/Google decide on refunds (we cannot override)
- Purchased credits: No refund after use
- Premium: No prorated refund if you cancel mid-period
Are there any hidden fees?
No! Prices shown in the app are final and include VAT/taxes (where applicable).

What languages does 1to10 support?
20+ languages:

Change language: Profile → Settings → Language
Can I submit feedback in my language?
Yes! Email info@1to10me.com in any language.
We primarily respond in English and German, but we can use translation tools for other languages.
🔧 Troubleshooting
App says "No photos available to rate"
Reasons:
- Not enough users in your area (try global targeting)
- You've rated all available photos (check back later)
- Daily rating limit reached (50 ratings/day)
Solution:
- Enable location permission
- Try again later
- Premium users can access more photos
My photo isn't getting ratings
Check:
- Is your photo approved? (Profile → My Photos → Status)
- Is targeting too narrow? (try expanding to "Global")
- Is your photo high quality? (clear, well-lit face)
Moderation: Photos are reviewed before being shown to users. This can take a few hours.
I can't upload a photo
Common reasons:
- Insufficient credits (need 10+ credits)
- Photo limit reached (free: 1 photo, premium: 5 photos)
- Photo too large (max 300 KB - app compresses automatically)
- Inappropriate content (see Community Guidelines)
Solution:
- Earn/buy more credits
- Delete an existing photo (free users)
- Upgrade to Premium (5 photo slots)

🔐 Account Security
Is my data safe?
Yes! We use industry-standard security:

Can others download my photos?
No. Photos are protected by Firebase Storage security rules.
However: Users can screenshot (we cannot prevent this). Only upload photos you're comfortable sharing publicly.

How to write helpful comments
